The A Boros (loosely translated as ‘The Vinous’) is a wine bar and restaurant that pursues the mission of not only offering quality cuisine in the town of Sárospatak, but also showcasing the best wines from the north-east of the Tokaj region where excellent wines are yet more difficult to find than in the south-west. They occasionally organise themed dinners with wines that feature dishes made to recipes by local winemakers.
A part of the group that owns Szent Tamás Winery, Hotel Botyrtis and Gusteau, Első Mádi Borház (literally First Mád Wine House) was originally opened as a wine bar and café before being developed into the bistro-style restaurant. They have a very small menu and an extensive wine list that features the very best of Mád.
Andrássy Rezidencia Hotel’s in-house restaurant is a hidden gem – so much so that few even know that it is actually called Eszencia. It offers exceptional fine dining cuisine and an extensive, carefully compiled wine list that represents the very best of Tokaj.
Sárga Borház (literally Yellow Wine House) on the Disznókő Wine Estate is a centrally located roadhouse with an atmospheric terrace and a robust menu of simple, well-made offerings. It is also the venue of the Tokaj-Hegyalja Market, a local produce market held every second Sunday of the month.
